Hummus and Nutty Krust Garlic Bread Sticks

Hummus and Nutty Krust Garlic Bread Sticks

Serves 2–4

How To Make


  • 200g canned chickpeas (Organic are better)
  • Juice of half a freshly squeezed lemon
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • Pinch ground cumin
  • Salt
  • 100g toasted sesame seed paste
  • 50ml water
  • 50ml extra virgin olive oil
  • Bread sticks:
  • 4 slices of Nutty Krust, each cut into 4 strips
  • 2 cloves garlic roughly chopped
  • Extra virgin olive oil to coat
  • Fresh black pepper


Drain the chickpeas and rinse. Combine the
chickpeas, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, salt, sesame
paste and water in a food processor, and blend
to a creamy purée. Add more lemon juice, garlic,
cumin or salt to taste. Drizzle with extra virgin
olive oil and chill.

Sprinkle bread slices liberally with oil and lay on
an oiled oven tray. Sprinkle with chopped garlic
and pepper and bake in the centre of a hot oven
until crisp and golden. Allow sticks to cool then
serve with hummus and a slice of fresh lemon. A
real garlic lovers treat!
