Job Title Quality Assurance Officer – Temporary Maternity Cover for approx 9, but up to 1 year Located at Howell House Bakery, Temple, Carryduff.
Responsible to Technical Manager General Manager
Job purpose To work within the quality assurance department and to ensure that the company’s standards, rules and policies in relation to food hygiene and safety are effectively managed and enforced in all departments on the bakery floor. To ensure customer specification in regard to both manufacturer and wrapping are met so that only the top quality products are produced and dispatched by the Company.
To provide a customer service support function, including customer’s specifications.

supervising all checks deemed necessary to ensure that the quality and
safety standards and customer / EHO/BRC requirements are met constantly
ensuring that all relevant Quality Assurance Control checks are
satisfactorily completed by quality assurance team and all related
documents are checked and signed off upon completion.
representing the company as the first point of contact for complaint
checking and signing off all production process control records and in
conjunction with the production manager and shift managers ensuring that
all required checks are completed.
quality tests such as calibration, temperature control and weights etc and analysing
and trending quality data.
ensuring that corrective action is put into operation via the relevant
management level i.e. production management, general manager ad
ensuring that all documents used by production and Q.A are up to date. Eg
the correct issue number.
requirements of the weights and measures department are met and any
correspondence with trading standards department are effectively dealt
day to day Q.A process control paperwork.
advising relevant management if personnel are found not adhering to the
company hygiene regulations.
direct involvement in internal and on occasion, external audits.
Active member of
the HACCP team.
Carry out other
duties as directed by line manager.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Educated to at
least A– level standard.
Possess a food
related qualification, preferably in HACCP or Hygiene Legislation.
communication and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of Food Related Standards i.e. BRC/ Food Safety.
